It is very rare for a compost
system to be totally out of worms. Over many years of
retailing, I have visited clients’ farms to review their
system after they have said that they have no worms and need a
replacement. I have quickly shown the client that there are
many babies and eggs throughout their system. Yes, there may
have been a massive loss of bigger worms but it is a very rare
situation for the loss of all worms. Before requesting the
free replacement of worms, we highly recommend you immediately
stop feeding your system and place
4 to 5 litres of
water in your system and water at least 2 or 3 litres every
second or third day for at least 6 weeks. This is a cooling
down situation which will then create an environment for the
eggs to hatch and you will then start to see worms. If you
cannot see any worm population after at least 4 to 6 weeks of
resting your system, then you can ask for the free worms which
you will get immediately.
